Homemade Body Wash

The days are getting cooler, and if you’re like me, you’ve already had to turn on the heater at your home on these chilly nights and mornings. Cooler air and heaters tend to dry out the skin. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a body wash that really moisturized and nourished your skin in the shower. Below is a great recipe for homemade body wash that does just that. This also makes an excellent gift for someone you care about.

Ingredients

1 and 1/3 cup Dr. Bronner’s® baby mild liquid castile soap

1/4 cup raw honey

1/4 cup La Tourangelle® Avocado Oil

20 drops Aetos or Aura Cacia® Lavender essential oil (or your favorite essential oil)

20 drops Aetos or Aura Cacia® Lemongrass essential oil (or your favorite essential oil)

Pump or squirt bottle that will hold 16oz

Directions

Combine all your ingredients in the order listed in the bottle you plan to put your body wash in and shake well.

Benefits of ingredients

Castile soap doesn’t cause irritation, won’t clog pores, accelerates healing, is good for skin conditions and sensitivities, doesn’t carry health risks, and is a better value.

Avocado oil enhances the skin’s ability to produce collagen, moisturizes the skin, and treats skin diseases.

Raw honey contains many nutrients and minerals excellent for skin health such as vitamin B, iron, manganese, copper, potassium and calcium. It also acts as a humectant drawing moisture to the skin and is perfect as a gentle cleansing solution for even very sensitive skin. When mixed with water, honey releases peroxide properties which helps heal acne and impede bacterial growth. Remember not all honey is created equal. Raw honey hasn’t been heated, meaning it still contains all the wonderful things that real honey should.

Lavender essential oil reduces anxiety and emotional stress, heals burns and wound, improves sleep, restores skin complexion and reduces acne, slows aging with powerful antioxidants, improves eczema and psoriasis, reduces inflammation, and alleviates headaches.

Lemongrass essential oil is an effective cleanser for all skin types; its antiseptic and astringent properties make lemongrass oil perfect for getting even and glowing skin. It can sterilize your pores, serve as a natural toner, and strengthen your skin tissues. By rubbing this oil into your hair, scalp, and body, you can alleviate headaches or muscle pain. Lemongrass essential oil is a source of essential vitamins such as vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folate, and vitamin C. It also provides essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, potassium, calcium, zinc, and iron.
