Grilling out this summer?

grilling6-14-14

Summer is grilling season, which can mean super healthy and delicious meals with friends and family if you make the right choices. Instead of preservative-laden types of sausages and hot dogs, or antibiotic and hormone polluted hamburger, go for grass-fed ground beef or steak, and nitrate free, organic versions hot dogs and sausages. When you pair this with organic veggies, it’s grilling magic. Who doesn’t love corn on the cob, kabobs, or foil packets filled with broccoli and carrots, maybe served with a green salad and watermelon. In the store, we have everything you’ll need to fire up the grill, ground beef, brats, hot dogs, steaks, and more. Don’t worry, you won’t miss the hormones and preservatives.

MSG is another thing it’s important to avoid when you’re prepping your yummies. This toxin causes a destructive, addictive overload reaction in your brain to fool you into thinking the product containing it tastes great. It’s also known as natural flavoring and monosodium glutamate. The bad news is that most marinades and seasoning blends contain it, but on the positive side you can easily make your own seasonings. Most of the time, homemade seasonings contain more nutritional benefits, no toxins, and are less expensive per ounce. We have a variety of high quality organic spices and gourmet salts you can include in your seasonings.

Just grab a jar or shaker container and fill it with this recipe for a natural version of seasoning salt that you can rub on your meats or sprinkle over veggies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ parts sea salt
  • 1 part paprika
  • 1 part freshly ground pepper
  • 1 part garlic powder
